Four masterpieces stolen from Zurich museum

Armed robbers stole four masterpieces – a Degas, a Cezanne, a van Gogh and a Monet – from a museum in Zurich, Switzerland on 10 February 2008.

Just before closing time, three masked robbers entered the museum. One of them threatened the people present with a pistol and forced them to the floor, while the two others took the paintings from the exhibition hall. 


The stolen masterpieces are as follows:  




Edgar DEGAS, 
Count Lepic and his daughters,
Oil on canvas, 65.5 x 81 cm


Paul CEZANNE,  Boy in a red vest, 
Oil on canvas, 80 x 64.5 cm 


Claude MONET,
Poppies near Vétheuil, 
oil on canvas, 71.5 x 90.5 cm 


Vincent van GOGH, 
Blossoming chestnut branches, 
oil on canvas, 72.5 x 91 cm
